i loved the mercenaries! they were masterfully crafted in ava9 and ava10 and set up these characters to be some of the most unique characters in the stickverse. then ava11 just ruined what i thought was so good about victim and agent. it's not that i don't like ava11 simply because i don't like victim/RC, it's that i REALLY did, and i hate that what i loved so much about them was taken away from me. what made them stand out in the first two episodes of AVAS3 was how different they felt from our main characters, the CG. they felt different from me. the mercs felt like different people with different lives that i got to see into, see how they function, in a completely different way than usual and was still fundamentally understandable. however alan becker unfortunately refuses to give them uniquely dubious sets of morals, so it just feels like they're guys down on their luck, which can work, but i hate it for ava11/s3 because it spoils what was interesting about the characters in the first place. ava11 didn't build on anything. it flattened them. it pulled them into the same Classic AB Villain Formula again; a normal person, a sob story, then a redemption. that format workedonce, and that's already a maybe. it was bad with king and even worse with agent and victim. they're afraid to explore different characters and it shows.
tl;dr "Wow! AVA Season 3 is peak and I love these new characters because they are morally dubious and are unique antagonists!" I said with joys. I was then shot 57 times. Yes I'm pissed over stickfigure media.
Couldn’t put it down. Loved the characters.
